laboratori di ricerca interdipartimentali

Interdepartmental research laboratories

One of the key areas of Sapienza’s strategy for creating and strengthening its research infrastructure is the development of interdepartmental research laboratories for multidisciplinary research and innovation.

Sapienza actively encourages departmental and interdepartmental research groups to participate in competitive funding calls for scientific equipment and research infrastructure. These calls are issued by the Lazio Region, the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), and the European Union. They aim to create local hubs for national and international research infrastructure.

 Sapienza has promoted the establishment of the following laboratories:

  • Sapienza Nanotechnology and Nanoscience Laboratory (SNN-Lab) has been established thanks to regional funding and represents a centre of excellence in the Lazio region. It is equipped with instruments that are unique both nationally and internationally.
  • Multidisciplinary Coordination Unit for the Application of Digital Medicine (CARE) (in Italian) a laboratory coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, which serves as a multidisciplinary coordination unit dedicated to the development, management and integration of digital medicine activities in support of numerous projects funded by the PNRR, PNC and POS, including e-DAI, HEAL Italia, D3-4-HEALTH and Rome Technopole, at Sapienza University of Rome;
  • FabLab SAPeri&Co the SIEH laboratory, dedicated to new digital manufacturing technologies and innovation in production processes. Design, prototyping and experimentation come together in a space equipped with advanced machinery and led by specialist expertise, with the aim of supporting research, development, training and technology transfer in the field of advanced manufacturing;
  • Research infrastructure for high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence and big data analytics.
