1. Requirements and terms
If you are enrolled at another Italian university, a military academy or other military higher education institution, you can apply to transfer to a Sapienza degree programme under Ministerial Decree 270/04.
A. The requirements to be met are specified in the call for applications/notice regulating the admission procedures for the programme you have chosen. The rules and deadlines to be followed are the same as those for degree programme transfers specified in Article 6, point 3.
B. For programmes with national scheduled admission (with national or local rankings), you can participate in the specific procedure for enrolment in years after the first, contained in specific notices published on the web page of the Student Administration Office responsible for each programme. The procedure is activated only if there are places available for years after the first.
C. The transfer only becomes effective after payment of the transfer fees.
D. If you have been awarded a qualification in a foreign higher education system and are already enrolled at an Italian university, after submitting your application and payment, you must contact the International Student Secretariat. Foreign qualifications must be finalised as provided for in Articles 8 and 9.
E. You may only begin taking examinations after the assessment of your academic record by the relevant teaching department and the relevant registration on Infostud. Following the transfer, you may take examinations starting from the first session scheduled for first-year students in the academic year 2025-2026 (end of the first term/semester).
F. If you wish to opt for part-time study (Article 30), you may submit your application starting from the year following your transfer.
2. Procedures
To transfer to a Sapienza degree programme, you must:
- submit an application to your university of origin;
- send Sapienza your transfer application and a copy of the transfer application you submitted to your university, following the procedures specified on the page https://www.uniroma1.it/it/node/28758.
After submitting your application, the Student Administration Office of your current programme will issue a payment slip for the transfer fees: the payment slip will be available on Infostud under “Bollettini>Bollettini generati” (Payment slips>Generated payment slips).
After paying the transfer fees, you can pay the first instalment of the enrolment fees for the new programme (if you have not already paid it for your current programme). The Secretariat will issue the payment slip for the first instalment for the new programme, which will be available on Infostud under “Bollettini>Bollettini generati” (Payment slips>Generated payment slips).
For the recognition of credits and any shortening of the programme, the procedures and deadlines specified for degree programme transfers (Art. 6, point 3) apply.
Any exams relating to courses other than the original programme will be accepted at the discretion of the teaching departments.
3. Deadlines
Below are the deadlines for:
- submitting your transfer application and paying the transfer fees;
- paying the first instalment of your enrolment fees;
- withdrawing your transfer application.
A. You must submit your application and pay the transfer fees by the deadline indicated in the announcement/notice regulating the procedures for admission to the course.
B. You may withdraw your transfer application within 7 days of submission by sending an email to the administrative office to which you sent your application, as well as to the administrative offices to which you sent your transfer application.
Withdrawal does not entitle you to a refund of the transfer fees.
C. The first instalment of the enrolment fees must be paid by 6 November 2025 or by the deadline specified in the call for applications for programmes with scheduled admission.
4. Costs
You will have to pay:
- €65 for transfer fees (the amount is generated on Infostud by the secretariat following verification of the course admission requirements);
- the first instalment of university fees. If the transfer takes place after 6 November 2025, you will also have to pay the second instalment;
- the regional tax for the right to study, equal to €140. If you come from a university in Lazio and have already paid the regional tax at your university of origin, you will not have to pay it again: in this case, contact the administrative office of your Sapienza degree programme and submit the documentation for verification;
- €16 stamp duty.
The amounts must be paid by the date indicated on Infostud.
The calculation of enrolment fees is based on the last year of payment of fees at the university where you took the exams for which you are requesting recognition.
Please note: following the evaluation of your academic career and the decision taken by the teaching departments, regardless of the number of credits validated, in the event of a change in the year of the programme, the system may produce an adjustment to the amount of the enrolment fees, which will be applied to subsequent instalments.
Any adjustment will be visible on Infostud. No further notification will be provided in this regard.
