1. Requirements and conditions
Concurrent enrolment in two degree programmes is governed by Law No. 33 of 12 April 2022 and related implementing decrees (MUR Decree No. 930 of 29 July 2022 and MUR Decree No. 933 of 02/08/2022, implemented by the university with a resolution of the Academic Senate on 12 December 2022).
A. You can enrol in two degree programmes, even of different types, provided you meet the admission requirements for each programme.
Both programmes may be offered at Sapienza, or one may be offered at Sapienza and the other at another Italian or foreign university.
According to the regulations, you can enrol simultaneously in:
- two bachelor's degree programmes;
- two second level degree programmes;
- one bachelor's degree programme and one second level degree programme;
- one bachelor's degree programme or one second level degree programme and one PhD programme;
- one bachelor's degree programme or one second level degree programme and one master's degree programme;
- one bachelor's degree programme or one second level degree programme and one non-medical specialisation programme;
- two master's degree programmes, provided that they are different according to current regulations;
- one PhD programme and one master's degree programme;
- one master's degree programme and one non-medical specialisation programme;
- one master's degree programme and one medical specialisation programme;
- a PhD programme and a non-medical specialisation programme;
- a PhD programme and a medical specialisation programme, in which case Article 7 of Ministerial Decree 226/2021 applies.
B. The following conditions apply to concurrent enrolment in two study programmes:
- the two programmes must not belong to the same degree class;
- Concurrent enrolment in two bachelor's degree or second level degree programmes in different classes is only permitted if the two programmes differ in at least two-thirds of their educational activities;
- One of the two programmes must not have compulsory attendance (with the exception of programmes in which compulsory attendance is required only for laboratory and internship activities);
- if the two programmes (or even just one of the two) provide for the award of a double or multiple degree, concurrent enrolment is not compatible with participation in the international educational programme, for one or both programmes;
- for Sapienza programmes in the PA 110 e lode programme, the rules on concurrent enrolment indicated in the call for applications regulating the admission procedures for these programmes apply;
- The two courses must not both be nationally scheduled admission courses.
- It is possible to request recognition of credits earned in the second course for the first course and vice versa, based on the criteria established by the relevant teaching departments.
To submit your declaration of concurrent enrolment, you must meet the following requirements:
- You must be up to date with your enrolment fee payments for the first of the two degree programmes.
- If you are applying for a study visa, you may submit your application, even for the same academic year, only after you have completed enrolment in the first programme, in accordance with the deadlines and procedures for enrolment in the second programme (see next paragraph).
For those applying for a visa for study purposes, the introduction of concurrent enrolment does not change the normal procedures for entry, residence, enrolment, and the criteria for the recognition of qualifications for each degree programme, as specified on the Universitaly page at the link https://www.universitaly.it/studenti-stranieri

2. Procedures

3. Deadlines
A If you enrol in two Sapienza programmes, you must submit your request by the deadlines set for enrolment/registration in the second programme.
B. If you enrol in a programme provided by Sapienza and one provided by another Italian or foreign university, you must submit your request by the deadlines set for enrolment/registration in the first year of the Sapienza programme.
A. There are no deadlines for requesting the recognition of credits from one programme to another, under the concurrent enrolment system.
4. Benefits for the right to university education and total or partial exemption from enrolment fees
A. If you choose to enrol in two concurrent programmes, you can only take advantage of regional scholarships and other benefits, facilities and services supporting the right to study provided for by current legislation (Art. 7, paragraph 1, second sentence of Ministerial Decree 930/2022) for one enrolment, based on the following conditions:
A1. if you enrol in the first year of both programmes, you can choose which of the two programmes to receive the benefits for;
A2. if you are already enrolled in years after the first, you cannot choose the second programme to take advantage of the benefits, unless you have not already benefited from them in the first programme.
B. Total or partial exemption from enrolment fees applies to both programmes if the requirements are met (Art. 42).
