Operating funds and 10% or 20% budget for research activities under Ministerial Decree 226/2021
The University determines annually the amount of the operational contribution, including the 10% increase (or 20% for National Doctorates) provided by DM 226/2021, as the budget for research activities in Italy and abroad for PhD students enrolled in the first, second, and third years, in favor of the Doctoral Courses to be used for activities aimed at the proper functioning of the course itself.
Each PhD student is guaranteed, in addition to the scholarship and within the available financial resources in the budget, a research budget for activities in Italy and abroad that is appropriate to the type of Course, and in any case, an amount not less than 10% of the scholarship amount. This specific contribution for each individual PhD student is reported annually in the funding request form. If the PhD student is not positively evaluated for the renewal of the scholarship and therefore loses their PhD status or resigns from it, the unused amount remains at the disposal of the Institution for the same purposes. For Doctoral Courses of national interest, the contribution for supporting the research and training activities of the PhD student is increased, based on the co-financing from the Ministry, by an amount equal to 20% of the scholarship amount.
