Patrick Zaky e Giulio Regeni

For Giulio and Patrick, five years after that tragic 25th of January

On January 25, 2016, Giulio Regeni, the Italian PhD student at Cambridge University who was barbarously tortured and murdered, disappeared in Egypt. Many events have been organised to remember him and demand truth and support Patrick Zaki, the University of Bologna student who is still in prison

On January 25, 2016, Giulio Regeni, the Italian PhD student at Cambridge University, disappeared in Egypt; his body, with obvious signs of torture, was found on February 5. Five years later, many initiatives have been organised to demand the truth and support Patrick Zaki, the University of Bologna student arrested in February 2020 and still held in prison.

Sapienza University supported the marathon of voices organised by Ca' Foscari University, within the SAR - Scholars at Risk network. The marathon took place live on Facebook on January 25. Watch the recorded event

Giulio's memory lives on in the call for graduation and PhD thesis prizes of the Italian Ministry of University and Research dedicated to Giulio. The call provides for 3 prizes for master's theses and 2 prizes for doctoral theses on topics concerning the concrete implementation of human rights in the economic, social and political spheres, the same research topics that the young scholar killed in Egypt was developing in his doctorate with the University of Cambridge. Go to the call
