Sustainable Sapienza: What Can We do?
The commitment of individuals to respect the environment and adopt good daily practices to promote sustainability is fundamental. In the long term, all of our choices have a significant impact in terms of pollution, air quality, health and the economy
Issues concerning sustainability are complex and require a long-term commitment. However, there also are simple daily actions and behaviour that can accelerate change.
Below, you will find 10 suggestions to reduce our daily environmental impact.
To reduce energy consumption:
- Exploit sunlight as much as you can and always turn lights off when you leave a room.
- Set your thermostat to about 20 degree in winter and 25 in summer. Don’t set it too high or too low!
- Regulate the luminosity of your devices and shut them off when they are not in use.
For sustainable mobility:
- Use cars as little as possible.
- Favour public transport and when you can go on foot or by bicycle.
- Take advantage of carpools and car-sharing.
To respect the environment:
- Avoid waste and recycle.
- Avoid plastics.
- Undesired clothing, books and objects can be sold at second-hand shops.
- Avoid using or purchasing disposable items.
In the “Sustainable Mobility” Section, you will find all the agreements for shared mobility and tools that help to adopt this behaviour.
