Third Anniversary of Giulio Regeni’s Kidnapping
On the first anniversary of his disappearance, January 25, 2017, the large lawn at Sapienza University hosted 365 yellow posters with his portrait, held by as many young men and women, both university students and not, who celebrated his memory and renewed the demand for truth about his death.
January 25, 2019 marks the third anniversary of the kidnapping of the young researcher. The number of days that have passed since that date have tripled. The Regeni Family, Amnesty International and other human rights associations in Italy, continue to demand the truth with hashtag #veritàpergiulioregeni.
Since Giulio Regeni’s disappearance, all Italian universities, including Sapienza University, naturally, have chosen to continue remembering the young researcher who chose to investigate the labour condition in Egypt with the tools of his rich university education and to communicate the results through journalistic reports.
