Educational goals

The educational objective of the PhD program in Automatic Control, Bioengineering, and Operations Research is to prepare young researchers to manage complex systems through the use of modeling tools, the application of quantitative methods for defining analytical models and analysing processes, and the development of techniques for the design and implementation of real-world systems across various application domains. PhD graduates in ABRO will be qualified to work in academia and in public and private institutions engaged in advanced research and applications, as well as in the entire industrial sector that promotes innovation in the field of Information Technology—particularly in Automatic Control, Bioengineering, and Operations Research. In these areas, the analytical and modeling approach to management and decision-making processes, along with the skills acquired during the program, help shape innovative professional profiles capable of playing a strategic role in companies and organizations operating at national and multinational levels across various sectors of goods and services production. These sectors include, for example: mechanics, computer science, robotics, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, energy, transportation, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, environment, commercial distribution, financial consulting firms, and design companies. The ABRO PhD program offers three distinct curricula, each corresponding to a different scientific field: Automatic Control (Italian sector identification code IINF-04/A), Bioengineering (Italian sector identification code IBIO-01/A), Operations Research (Italian sector identification code MATH-06/A).
