Eating and weight disorders service
You can access the the Integrated Multidisciplinary Service for Eating and Weight Disorders:
- by sending an e-mail to alimentazione.sapienza@uniroma1.it to request a medical-nutritional assessment at the Food Science and Human Nutrition Research Unit of the Department of Experimental Medicine (headed by Prof. Lorenzo Maria Donini).
or
- by emailing thebodyproject@uniroma1.it to request a psychological assessment from the Eating Disorders Section of the Department of Psychology (this service is not covered by the National Health Service and is free of charge).
In both cases, one enters the programme provided by the integrated multidisciplinary service, which offers free medical-diagnostic and psychological investigations and targeted clinical interventions.
The programme includes the following services based on individual needs:
nutritional counselling
how: listening, information and guidance;
where: GONG - Gruppo orientamento nutrizione giovani - a service offered by Sapienza to students and employees to promote the principles of healthy eating
medical-nutritional assessment
how: general clinical assessment and nutrition status: food and weight history, assessment of composition (bio-impedancometry, DXA, anthropometry) and body function (hand-grip strength, sit-to-stand, 6MWT), energy balance investigation (indirect calorimetry, Actigraph);
where: Department of Experimental Medicine and Food Science and Human Nutrition Research Unit
psychological-clinical assessment
how: through clinical interviews, food diaries and psychometric tests;
where: Department of Psychology
clinical nutrition intervention
how: customised diet plan with or without oral nutritional supplements; medical and psychological check-ups; educational therapy course;
where: Department of Experimental Medicine and Food Science and Human Nutrition Research Unit
psychological analysis
how: through clinical interviews, food diaries and psychometric tests;
where: Department of Psychology
group clinical intervention for the reduction of dyscontrol of eating behaviour and emotions

one-to-one psychotherapy

targeted intervention for student-athletes with eating disorders
