The Department is responsible for the following main activities:

Acquisition of Assets from Inheritances and Donations

Sapienza can receive donations in the form of goods or money from private or public entities. These donations support research, teaching, and contribute to cultural progress. The department handles the administrative procedures related to the acquisition of assets through inheritances and donations. More information can be found in the "Donations in favor of the University" section.

University Foundations

Foundations are entities with autonomous legal personality, whose assets are dedicated to a specific and lawful purpose. Sapienza can establish foundations or join existing foundations, subject to approval by the Collegial Bodies. The process requires the submission of a preliminary proposal, which will be examined by the Department in collaboration with other competent offices.

The foundation must be established by a notarial deed and requires the involvement of the Rector or their delegate. Foundations may also register in the National or Regional Register of individuals, or in the Register of Third Sector Entities (RUNTS), depending on their nature. The department handles the administrative procedures related to:

  • Establishment and functioning of the University’s Foundations.
  • Joining existing Foundations.
  • Supporting the operational management of Foundations in line with the University's objectives.

Management of Bequests and Inheritances

Sapienza has the authority to receive bequests and inheritances, which are accepted in compliance with current legislation and the wishes of the testator. The department is responsible for:

  • Providing consultancy and managing bequests and inheritances in favor of the University.
  • Acceptance of inheritances and management of bequests in accordance with current laws and the testator’s will.

Consultancy to Spending Centers

The department provides specialized consultancy to Spending Centers in areas within its competence.

Management of the University’s Insurance Services

  • Assessing the University’s insurance needs.
  • Preparing, with the support of the broker, tender specifications for various insurance policies: accident insurance, civil liability (RCT/O), asset liability, kasko for missions, all risks, legal protection, medical expenses reimbursement (RSMO) for incoming/outgoing personnel.
  • Activating insurance coverage and managing claims.
  • Administrative and accounting management of insurance premium payments.
  • Supervising the insurance brokerage contract.
  • Providing technical support to university structures for insurance services.
