Sustainability Unit

The Sustainability Unit aims to enhance Sapienza's tangible and intangible assets in terms of environmental sustainability.

It promotes the knowledge and integrated management of Sapienza's sustainability activities, particularly in the areas of mobility, waste and energy, stimulating the active involvement of the Sapienza community and creating the conditions for the improvement of personal and collective well-being.

The unit provides staff for the activities of the Mobility Manager, who organises actions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of car use, limiting traffic congestion and improving the organisation of home-to-campus journeys for students and staff, encouraging alternative modes of travel to the private car.

The Sustainability Sector oversees the development and implementation of processes and projects aimed at reducing the University's environmental impact by contributing to the progress of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, it oversees activities related to the development of strategic policies on waste reduction and management, energy conservation and green public procurement.

The unit prepares joint and integrated agreements and plans with public and private entities, and manages activities related to participation in national and international networks active in the field of environmental sustainability and social responsibility.
