Directorial Decree No. 1236 of 01-08-2023 is the second edition of the FIS Call for Proposals, which, unlike the first edition, provides for three funding schemes:

• STARTING GRANT for fundamental research projects conducted by Emerging Researchers (Junior PIs),
• CONSOLIDATOR GRANT for fundamental research projects coordinated by Mid-Career Researchers (Consolidator PIs),
• ADVANCED GRANT for fundamental research projects conducted by Established Researchers (Senior PIs)

As part of the Italian Science Fund (FIS 2 Call for Proposals), the MUR has funded 22 Sapienza projects with more than €31 million:

1. ERC macro-sector - Social Sciences and Humanities (SH) – 4 Starting Grants
2. ERC macro-sector - Life Sciences (LS) – 4 Starting Grants, 2 Consolidator Grants and 1 Advanced Grant
3. ERC macro-sector - Physical Sciences and Engineering (PE) – 6 Starting Grants, 2 Consolidator Grants and 3 Advanced Grants

Winners of FIS 2 grants are reminded that projects may be launched no later than the 210th day from the official start date of the projects set out in Article 9, paragraph 5, of the FIS 2 Call for Proposals, on the 90th day following the issuance of the decree of admission to funding.

The duration of FIS 2 projects is 36 months.

The start date of the projects must therefore be communicated to the MUR by uploading the appropriate Dichiarazione di avvio delle attività progettuali, to the FIS platform, signed by the PI and countersigned by the Rector
