The selection is made out of 3 phases:

1. PRE-SELECTION – Preselection and Nomination of the candidates (made by the partner university)
2. ON LINE APPLICATION – Application and Documents’ submission by the nominated candidates on Sapienza’s informatic system;
3. FINAL SELECTION OF STUDENTS AND STAFF.

• Students

  The Erasmus+ ICM offers 850 euro per month plus travel expenses to the selected incoming students.

  All scholarship holders will be able to attend courses at Sapienza University of Rome without having to pay fees. Furthermore, all the activities carried out at Sapienza shall be recognized by the home university as established in the Learning Agreement.

  Student mobility can last from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 6 months (possibly to be extended up to 12 months out of which 6 months as a Zero-EU grant).

  The ICM scholarship also covers research mobility at PhD level with the same duration.
   

• Academic Staff

  Selected incoming academic staff will receive a daily scholarship of 160 euro for the maximum period allowed plus travel expenses.

  Mobility of academic staff lasts from a minimum of 7 to a maximum of 21 days (including the two travel days).

  The duration varies according to the distance between the hosting institution of the academic staff and Sapienza University of Rome.

Travel expenses for both students and academic staff are calculated on the basis of the Distance Calculator and the distance traveled:

ACADEMIC OFFER

Erasmus+ ICM incoming students may apply for any programs offered by Sapienza University of Rome (taught both in Italian or in English). Bachelor students in their 3^rd of 4^th year may pick courses taught at Master level.

The academic year officially starts on October 1^st and ends on October 31^st of the following year (https://www.uniroma1.it/en/node/24431). However, the teaching schedule varies from faculty to faculty: students are strongly recommended to request the specific academic calendar to the administrative office of their receiving faculty (http://www.uniroma1.it/internazionale/studiare-e-lavorare-allestero/erasmusplus/area-gestione/raef). Usually, the 1^st semester classes start by the end of September and last till December, exam sessions start in January and last till the end of February, while the 2^nd semester classes start by the end of February and last till the end of May, exam sessions start in June and last till the end of July. Another exam session takes place in September.

Erasmus+ ICM incoming staff may apply for any discipline available at Sapienza University of Rome.

Since 1999 (Ministerial Decree no. 509/99), Italian university studies have been fully reformed so as to meet the objectives of the "Bologna process". The Italian University system is now organised in 3 cycles: the 1st cycle academic degree, that is the "Laurea" (Bachelor degree), grants access to the 2nd cycle the "Laurea Magistrale" (Masters degree), corresponding to the 2nd cycle and giving access to 3rd cycle doctorate programmes resulting in the degree called "Dottorato di Ricerca".

The European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) is used by Italian universities to evaluate and measure the workload of single courses, as well as entire qualifications. ECTS credits represent the total student workload (class time, individual study, exam preparation, practical work etc) needed to complete a course/module/degree. According to Italian legislation, one ECTS/ CFU credit is equivalent to 25 hours. Exams are graded using a grading scale of 30, where 18 is the minimum passing grade and 30 cum laude the highest grade.
