Art. 42 - DEADLINES FOR PAYING TUITION FEES FOR DEGREE PROGRAMMES AND CONSEQUENCES IN THE EVENT OF LATE PAYMENT OR INTERRUPTION OF STUDIES

1.     Payment of enrolment fees in instalments

Sapienza allows the single enrolment fee for degree programmes to be paid in three instalments of 30% (first instalment), 35% (second instalment) and 35% (third instalment) of the total amount.

Exceptions are the degree programmes specified in Article 38, paragraphs 3 and 4, for which payments are to be made in two instalments, to be paid by the deadlines specified in the same articles specified above.

2. Deadlines for students enrolling

A. If you enrol in a programme with scheduled admission (three-year degree programmes, single-cycle master's degrees or two-year master's degrees) in 2025-2026, the deadlines for paying enrolment fees are as follows:

- first instalment

by the dates specified in the call for applications, published in the Catalogue of degree programmes, in the Enrolment section for each programme https://corsidilaurea.uniroma1.it/

Failure to pay the first instalment of the fees by the dates specified in the call for applications will result in the inability to enrol in the programme.

Late enrolment is therefore not possible under the terms specified in point 3 below.

- second instalment and ISEE acquisition check (Art. 42)

by 18 December 2025.

- third instalment

by 26 March 2026.

B. If you enrol in a programme with an entry test for the assessment of your knowledge (three-year or single-cycle degrees), the deadlines for paying the enrolment fees are as follows:

- first instalment

by 6 November 2025. Failure to pay the first instalment of the fees by this date will result in the inability to enrol in the programme.

- second instalment and ISEE acquisition check (see Art. 42)

by 18 December 2025.

- third instalment

by 26 March 2026.

C. If you enrol in the first year of a programme with assessment of requirements and personal knowledge (second level two-year degree programmes), the deadlines are specified in Art. 3, point 2 g.

3. Deadlines for those enrolling in years after the first

If in 2025-2026 you enrol in years after the first in all programmes that require payment in three instalments (three-year degree programmes, single-cycle degrees, second level two-year degree programmes), the deadlines for payment of enrolment fees are as follows:

- first instalment

by 6 November 2025

- second instalment

by 18 December 2025

- third instalment

by 26 March 2026

4. Deadlines for programmes that require payment in two instalments

The deadlines for the payment of enrolment fees for degree programmes that require flat-rate fees to be paid in two instalments are specified in Article 38, points 3 and 4.

5. Fines for late payments

Late payments are subject to a fine of €65, which doubles in the event of a delay of more than 60 consecutive calendar days. Fines are payable even if you are fully or partially exempt - for any reason - from paying enrolment fees.

A. You will pay a fine of €65

- if you pay the first instalment of your enrolment fees from 7 November 2025 (if you enrol in years after the first);

- if you pay the second instalment of your enrolment fees from 19 December 2025;

- if you pay the third instalment of your enrolment fees on or after 27 March 2026.

B. You will pay a fine of €130

- if you pay the first instalment of your enrolment fees on or after 6 January 2026 (if you are enrolling in years after the first);

- if you pay the second instalment of your enrolment fees on or after 18 February 2026;

- if you pay the third instalment of your enrolment fees on or after 26 May 2026.

6. Cancellation of exams taken in the case of non-payments

If you are not up to date with your payments, you cannot take your exams. Any examinations taken without payment of fees will be considered “suspended” until payment is settled, which must take place no later than 10 calendar days from the date of the first examination taken without payment. Failing this, all examinations taken after the deadline for payment of fees will be cancelled.

7. Payments after 30 June 2026

If you do not pay the outstanding instalments by 30 June 2026, you will have to wait until the start of the new academic year to settle your position.

8. Interruption of payments for one or more years and resumption of studies

A. If you have interrupted payments for only one year without resorting to the interruption of your studies provided for in Article 42, you will pay, in addition to the enrolment fees for the current year, the enrolment fees in arrears based on the ISEE valid for the year of suspension (if declared), including fines for late payment. If you have not declared your ISEE for the year of interruption, you will have to pay the arrears based on the ISEE valid for the year of resumption of your studies.

To communicate your ISEE, you must send a stamped application form, attaching your ISEE declaration. To send the request, follow the procedures specified on the page https://www.uniroma1.it/it/node/28758

B. If you have suspended your enrolment fee payments for at least two academic years, without resorting to the interruption of your studies referred to in Article 42, in order to re-enrol for the 2025-2026 academic year, you will have to pay, from 1 September 2025 until 6 November 2025, a fixed fee for each year of interruption equal to €455 instead of the enrolment fees and accrued fines.

The amount is due even if you are enrolled part-time (Article 42).

The amount to be paid is calculated automatically on Infostud.

C. If you only have your final exam left and have suspended payment of enrolment fees for degree programmes for at least two academic years, without resorting to the interruption of your career as referred to in Art. 42,

when you resume your university career, you must pay the University a flat fee for each year of interruption equal to €290 (regardless of the number of years of interruption) instead of the enrolment fees and fines accrued (this amount will be entered manually by the Administrative Office). Upon request, the Administrative Office will generate the amount due on Infostud.

To submit your request, follow the procedures specified on the page https://www.uniroma1.it/it/node/28758

For the year in which you submit your graduation application, you will have to pay the enrolment fees based on your ISEE and any fines for late payment.

D. If you have a certified disability or invalidity equal to or above 66% or a disability certificate pursuant to Article 3, paragraphs 1 and 3, of Law No. 104 of 5 February 1992, or duly certified serious and prolonged infirmity (pursuant to Article 9 of Legislative Decree No. 68/2012), you have suspended payments for the renewal of your enrolment for at least two years and you have not exceeded the deadline for obtaining your qualification, you can resume your studies by paying €30 for each year of interruption as reimbursement for enrolment charges.
