Creation and strengthening of "Innovation Ecosystems" as territorial leaders for research and development

The call promoted by the MUR, under Mission 4, Component 2, of the NRP, provides for the creation of 12 Ecosystems of Innovation across the country.

The Ecosystems of Innovation are networks of state and non-state universities, Public Research Institutions (hereafter EPRs), territorial public bodies, other highly qualified and internationally recognized public and private entities, and intervene in areas of technological specialization consistent with the industrial and research vocations of the reference territory, promoting and strengthening collaboration between the research system, the production system and territorial institutions.

Innovation Ecosystems enhance research results, facilitate technology transfer and accelerate the digital transformation of companies' production processes with a view to economic and environmental sustainability and social impact on the territory.

Only state universities and EPRs supervised by the MUR are eligible to submit project proposals. Each project proposal is aimed at the creation of the Innovation Ecosystem, organized with a Hub&Spoke governance structure, and the implementation of the program including the interventions indicated below.

HOW DOES SAPIENZA PARTICIPATE?
Sapienza is the public proponent of the Rome Technopole - Innovation Ecosystem project, which is configured as a regional innovation ecosystem that will feed the chain of research, training and innovation in synergy with the business world, within three thematic directions of high priority for Lazio: energy transition, digital transition and sectors related to biopharma and health.

The project aims to strengthen and enhance in a single hub the academic excellence of Rome and Lazio to increase the number of graduates in the sectors of greatest perspective and strategic regional interest, to support growth and innovation, to make our territory more attractive to businesses, young people and investors, strengthening the dialogue and synergy with companies in the regional and national production system.
