Sapienza Guest House

Sapienza University visitors partaking in conferences or seminars or who have been invited by Sapienza for a period of study or research are welcome to stay at the Sapienza Guest House. The guest house is available to lecturers, reseachers, visiting professors and scientists, scholarship recipients, research fellows, PhD students, students and technical administrative staff from Italian and International universities provided they are invited by one of Sapienza's Faculties or Departments

we are glad to inform you that is now possible to book double and single rooms at Ex-Regina Elena accommodation, Via del Castro Laurenziano 2 bis, Rome., used during the temporary closure of Sapienza guesthouses. 

Kitchens are not equipped for guests, and the relevant use is not envisaged.

Only booking up to the September 30, 2023 will be taken into consideration excluding the month of August as the accommodation is closed. The reservation is considered completed with the payment of the arranged amount to be made within the terms set out in the guesthouse regulations. Please note that booking requests will be assessed during regular office hours.

Guesthouses can also welcome a guest's companion, that must be 18+ except in the case of first-degree kinship ties (parents/children); This person will share the guest’s double room for a period not exceeding the guest's request.

The guesthouse’s rooms, on a temporary and transitional basis, also welcome the School of Advanced Studies’ students.


Reservations and payments


As per official regulations, the inviting Sapienza Department/Faculty must email their requests to, using only the “Room reservation form” (in Italian) on the “Downloads” section. Reservation requests sent by different means cannot be taken into consideration. Requests will be confirmed by email.

Payment can be made in one of the following ways:

  • stays paid for by the guests. The relevant payment must be done by using the PagoPa platform (, as indicated on the booking form;
  • for Sapienza Central Administration structures, with a transfer from the account of the requesting Area to the account A.C. Manutenzione Global Service per gestione strutture UA.S.001.DUF.ARPS.UGI;
  • for lecturers invited by Sapienza (with reimbursement of expenses from Sapienza funds) the cost of the stay is deducted from the gross monthly amount allocated to the lecturer. Sapienza shall issue, through the support service, on a form provided by the DEC, a certificate of stay;
  • in the case of a stay for the guest's companion, payment of the higher amount between the single room rate and the double room rate can be made by the guest, in the manner already in use, and this difference will be invoiced.

In the event of a cancellation, the applicant or the Department/Faculty may cancel the reservation free of charge by emailing up to five days before the stay. In the event of cancellation from five days before up to three days before the stay, a sum of €15.00 will be due as reimbursement for administration costs. In the event of a guest not showing up or not cancelling within the aforementioned terms, the Administration will require the Department/Faculty/guest to pay the amount due for one night's stay for stays of up to three days, for three nights for stays of up to seven days, for half of the stay for stays of more than seven days.
