Setting up a Start-Up

University startups allow innovative entrepreneurial activities to be created based on a research background developed in an academic environment

To achieve its institutional aims such as the valorisation of research, technology transfer, connection with the entrepreneurial world, introduction, development and diffusion of new technologies, innovative products and services on the market and the creation of favourable conditions for the growth of young people's employment, Sapienza favours the creation of enterprises, whose aim is the use, on an entrepreneurial basis, of patents, inventions, know-how or findings based on scientific research. Sapienza, facilitates those projects aimed at the constitution of joint-stock companies aimed at producing new goods and services with high technological content, based partially or entirely on scientific research.

Read Sapienza's Guidelines (in Italian) for the creation of spin-offs and startups and FAQs for start-up proponents.

To activate a new Startup, please email: spinoff@uniroma1.it specifying:

1) Proposer (indicating the role held at Sapienza);

2) Department of affiliation of the proposer and any other departments involved in the project;

3) Brief description of the entrepreneurial project;

4) Any partners (natural and/or legal persons) outside the University involved in the project.

On request, the relevant documentation kit for submitting the proposal will be sent.

The Spin-Off and Startup page lists Sapienza Spin-Offs and Startups, grouped by technical-scientific areas and departments, with an indication of proponents, description of activities and reference sites, and the Spin-Off and Startup Register (in Italian) provides further information on the approval of proposals and the creation of companies.

Please read the Italian version of this page for more information.
