During the research stay, the transformation of the Italian società a responsabilità limitata into the so-called Srl aperta will be examined, as a modern and flexible variant of a legal form that has gradually emerged since 2012 through targeted startup legislation. This development represents not only a clear departure from the classical model of the German GmbH, but also constitutes one of the driving forces behind the recently proposed EU Inc.
Against this background, the analysis will focus on the underlying rationale and operational features of the Srl aperta, assess its potential to foster innovation within German GmbH law, and, at the same time, contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the EU Inc. proposal from a comparative law perspective.

Anne Pommier
Carnegie Institution of Washington – USA
Visiting the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from 23/02/2026 to 23/03/2026.
Host professor: Antonio Genova
The primary objective of the research is to integrate laboratory measurements of electrical conductivity and related physical properties of Mercury-analog materials with geophysical models developed in support of the BepiColombo mission, a joint initiative of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
High-pressure and high-temperature experimental petrology provides critical constraints on the electrical and thermodynamic properties of Mercury’s core and mantle. The integration of experimental results with geophysical modeling enhances the interpretation of BepiColombo’s gravity, rotational, and magnetic field measurements, thereby enabling a more robust determination of the core’s size, composition, and physical state. This approach strengthens Sapienza’s contribution to advancing our understanding of Mercury’s internal structure and geodynamic evolution.
