Research Services Area

 

  • It oversees activities relating to Sapienza's research funding, (Ricerca di Ateneo, Medie e Grandi Attrezzature, Grandi Scavi, SapiExcellence programme, Visiting professors, International cooperation, PI incentives, Award and Horizon Europe coordination). It supports lecturers, researchers, research fellows and PhD students in submitting project proposals.
  • It supports Sapienza in mapping competences, scouting sectors and identifying project ideas for calls of strategic interest.
  • It disseminates information on, and supports the submission and management of, national and international research and international cooperation projects funded by ministries, international bodies, European (e.g. Horizon Europe), national and regional bodies, and public and private foundations
  • It promotes training and information activities for researchers and administrative staff on calls for, and the management of, international, European, national and regional funding projects for research and international scientific cooperation. It also promotes awareness-raising and training activities on research ethics and integrity.
  • Provides support to Sapienza structures for joining international university networks and associations in accordance with the approved Sapienza guidelines, and for activating UNESCO Chairs at Sapienza.
  • It supports the coordination and monitoring activities of Sapienza Action Plan within the European Commission's Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R).
  • It supports departmental representatives, relevant administrative departments, and committees in national and local research quality assessment procedures (VQR).
  • It assists the Departments of Excellence with submitting project proposals and monitoring activities.
  • It assists the scientific community in using Sapienza's IRIS research product catalogue
  • It provides scientific and technical support for the activities of the Comitato Etico per la Ricerca Transdisciplinare e della Commissione per l’Integrità della Ricerca, while also promoting coordination with the statutory ethics committees. Regarding research safety, it assesses ethical and regulatory risks, ensuring compliance with national, European, and international standards, as well as conducting due diligence for technology transfer and dual-use research.
  • It assists organisations in participating in European and international tenders as economic operators.
  • It also supports the development of digital solutions for research management, such as reporting, IRIS AP and UWEB Timesheet, with a view to increasing the transparency and open data of public and commissioned research funding.

The Research Services Area (ASER) supports Sapienza's scientific research activity. It comprises 2 Offices, which include the following Units:
