Enhancement programmes Proof of Concept (PoC)
The Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT - formerly MISE) calls for proposals for the funding of Proof of Concept (PoC) projects, i.e. programmes of applied research aimed at increasing the maturity level of patented technologies, according to the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) scale, in order to enhance them through their application at industrial level or for the creation of new companies.
The TRL scale, adopted by the European Commission's Horizon 2020 programme, is an indicator that identifies the stages of research and development, laboratory replication, testing, prototyping and monitoring of operational production phases.
On the pages of the two Sapienza funded programmes, there is a link to each PoC technology that has been improved:
- Enhancement Programme “Boosting Innovation Technology for Market Product Solutions – BIT4MaPS” 2019-2021, concluded;
- Enhancement Programme "Bridge the GAP - Building Innovation Bridges between Research and Industrial System" 2022-2025, ongoing.
Would you like to support one of the patents benefiting from Proof of Concept?
Supporting one of the patents funded by MIMIT (EX MISE) means becoming part of the Sapienza research chain, in a logic of collaboration and "open innovation" between universities and companies, between applied research and experimental development, and with a proactive and dynamic IPR management approach.
In concrete terms, with a view to university-enterprise dialogue, the Projects promotes and collects expressions of interest from both companies and other stakeholders operating in the technological field of reference of the PoCs, in order to:
verify the commercial viability of project ideas related to patents in Sapienza's portfolio;
design and develop use cases and/or prototypes to reduce the risk of future implementations in real environments;
draw up assessment plans and models for evaluating the exploitation of research;
enhance dialogue with stakeholders, especially those of an industrial nature, in terms of expectations and needs;
maximise the cost-benefit ratio related to the exploitation of a patent.
