Sapienza is active in several initiatives concerning food and water in general and food and nutrition education in particular through scientific research and its working group in the University Network for Sustainable Development.
Learn food and nutrition education with Gong
Gong is the acronym chosen to indicate the Nutritional and Gastronomic Education Unit, a service that Sapienza offers free of charge to all students who wants to learn about healthy food and nutrition. At Gong you can find help, information and direction; it organises individual meetings, seminars and conferences on specific topics, for a healthy food education that does not medicalise the relationship with food but provides all the elements to eat well while appreciating tradition, culture and affectivity.
The project is coordinated by the Research Unit in Food Science and Human Nutrition of the Medical Pathophysiology, Food Science and Endocrinology Section - Department of Experimental Medicine.
Research on Nutrition
The Food Science and Human Nutrition Research Unit, within the Department of Experimental Medicine, carries out educational and research activities about nutrients and food, epidemiological investigations in the nutritional field, nutrition education, nutritional status, eating behaviour, malnutrition (undernutrition or overweight), collective catering. A library dedicated to food science collects books and magazines on these subjects.
Rus working group on food
Sapienza has created a thematic working group dedicated to food as part of the activities with the University Network for Sustainable Development-Rus.
