Partnerships extended to universities, research centres and companies to fund basic research projects
The call (in Italian), funded under the PNRR's Mission 4 'Istruzione e ricerca” – Componente 2 “Dalla ricerca all’ impresa', encourages collaboration between universities, research centres and enterprises through the creation of EXTENDED PARTNERSHIPS, i.e. diffuse networks of universities, public research organisations, other public and private entities engaged in research activities, recognised as highly qualified and organised according to a hub and spoke governance model.
SAPIENZA PARTICIPATION
Sapienza participates in 12 projects under all the established Extended Partnerships, as outlined below:
PE 1 - Future Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR)
The FAIR project starts with modern Artificial Intelligence, its various theoretical, modelling and engineering aspects, but is looking towards the future, with the ambition to contribute to addressing research questions, methodologies, models, technologies, without neglecting ethical and legal rules, and sustainability issues in a broad sense, not only environmental.
PE 2 - Network 4 Energy Sustainable Transition (NEST)
By leveraging interdisciplinary expertise, the NEST project generates new knowledge and develops innovative technologies and processes for the conversion and utilisation of renewable and sustainable energy sources.
PE 3 - Multi-risk science for resilient communities under a changing climate (RETURN)
The extended partnership aims to strengthen research chains on environmental, natural and human-made hazards at national level and to promote their participation in strategic European and global value chains.
PE 4 - National Quantum Science and Technology Institute (NQSTI)
The Partnership operates in the field of quantum sciences and technologies.
PE 5 - Cultural Heritage Active Innovation for Sustainable (CHANGES)
The Partnership promotes scientific-technological innovation and sustainable development of the cultural heritage, connecting research excellence, enterprises, institutions and citizens to create a large reference network in Italy on these issues
PE 6 - Diagnostica e terapie innovative nella medicina di precisione (HEAL ITALIA)
Project HEAL ITALIA, aims to strengthen the research and innovation chain in the field of Precision Medicine, also through active participation in the development of value chains considered strategic for the country.
PE 7 - SEcurity and RIghts in the CyberSpace (SERICS)
The Partnership deals with research in the field of Security and Privacy.
PE 8 - Ageing Well in an Ageing Society (Age-It)
The Age-It project aims at transforming Italy into an international scientific pole for research on ageing, an ‘empirical laboratory’ representing the reference standard in the socio-economic, biomedical and technological fields to build an inclusive society for all ages.
PE 10 - Food & Foodways: innovating food practices, policies and market (ONFOODS)
OnFoods serves as a coordination centre for seven thematic spokes, each focusing on a specific and crucial aspect of the food system, while working together to achieve common goals in food safety and quality, nutrition and malnutrition prevention.
PE 11 – Made in Italy Circolare e Sostenibile (MICS)
The MICS Partnership brings together business and research, public and private, creating a unique union of intent. Today, three fundamental sectors of the Italian industrial scenario are involved, namely Clothing, Furniture and Wood, and Automation and Mechanics, but in the future we will open up to other sectors.
PE 13 - One Health Basic and Translational Research Actions addressing Unmet Needs on Emerging Infectious Diseases (INF-ACT)
INF-ACT addresses the pressing unmet needs of emerging infectious diseases in humans from both fundamental and translational perspectives, taking into account human health in a broader context, including domestic and wild animals as potential disease reservoirs and environmental factors that increase the possibility of infection.
PE 14 - RESearch and innovation on future Telecommunications systems and networks, to make Italy more smART (RESTART)
RESTART has the ambitious goal of helping to shape the evolution of Telecommunications in Italy, revitalising a sector that possesses world-class skills and experience. It focuses on the main topics of Telecommunications science and technology, including all kinds of related systems and networks for human and non-human users.
PE 15 - Space Activities
This activity will be promoted and supported through a subsequent funding call adopted by the Italian Space Agency (ASI). The working group will support the preparatory activities to represent Sapienza as a partner in the partnership, both for technical and administrative-managerial support.
