1. Collaborative project writing and networking in the context of Horizon Europe. Services and tools for supporting researcher: overview on the main opportunities for research and innovation collaborative projects financed by the Horizon Europe Programme; EU R&I funding instruments for the period 2021-2027.
Main topics: structure of Horizon Europe and implementation strategy; rules of eligibility and participation; how to identify a call for proposal; how to plan and write a successful collaborative project. Practical suggestions from professors with direct experience as scientist in charge of research projects financed by European Union, under different programs and thematic areas. Evaluation processes in EU R&I funding programmes: the course is focused on a shift of the applicant approach from researcher's perspective to the European point of view, highlighting strengths and weaknesses of a project proposal from the evaluator point of view. 1. Introduction to Python programming: introduction to the Scientific calculation tools and Big data. The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to the advantages of using Python for data science, scientific computing and scripting automation. The course enables its participants to get started with Python, its fundamental data structures and basic operations. At the end of the course the participants are able to develop programs to face simple numerical and scripting problems. (module in english open to other CIVIS institution PhDs)

2. Introduction to Machine Learning (ML): machine Learning (ML) is at the basis of most of the modern technologies used in everyone's life. The basic concept of ML and Neural Networks is presented, including a brief overview of mathematical and statistical underpinning. 3. Introduction to PyTorch: PyTorch is a framework developed by Facebook with contributions from open-source community. It is used mainly to develop neural network models. PyTorch strengths reside in its ease of use and in its rich ecosystem of developed solutions. The course focuses on some code examples with solutions to real problems on datasets available online. The course also shows the well-known MNIST dataset for the classification of handwritten digits. (module in english open to other CIVIS institution PhDs)
